    According to facebook, this loco has been bought by the class 40 preservation society and will be based at bury with D335 and 345

    Goodness, that brings back some happy memories. I think I went looking for it - having been previously warned it had been through on a working earlier in the day - in the worst of the snowdrifts in 1979, in the cold and the dark :)

    40.106 was in good form at the SVR last weekend. It worked from Saturday to Monday.

    On the Saturday I filmed it hauling 8 LMS maroon coaches. As the 40 is in BR green it looked very smart.

    Boy does that loco sound good when it accelerates. <BJ>
