Can anyone advise if the Cl 47 stayed on the back of the train all day or if it was attached at Folkestone to assist with the Folkestone - Ashford operation and if so where it came off. RTC on their website say the diesel will be attached at Folketone East on their trip with 70013 on 14 March.

The 47 brought the stock into Victoria with Tangmere tailing then remained with us all day.

The 47 also provided heat to most of the train during the day as well.

Thank you both, you are right, it was risky! I was actually traveling north that day and left early to break my journey at East Croydon, otherwise I would of been following. Not knowing East Crodon I guessed on the middle platform and got lucky!

I notice that the RTC version of this train with 70013 is also going through Croydon as opposed to through Bromley SOuth as on previous tours. I assume this is to provide something new in terms of routes traversed?

By the way, lovely photographs everyone - thanks for posting them.

    Regards,

    Dan

I had assumed it was because of engineering works somewhere on/adjacent to it's more usual route?
