2016 August – Race the Train

The 33rd annual Tywyn Rotary Club Race the Train event took place on Saturday 20 August


Unfortunately the weather wasn’t as glorious as last year. The rain and wind certainly didn’t deter the 1,400 or so competitors who came to Tywyn to run the Tynllwyn Challenge, Dolgoch Challenge, Quarry Challenge and the 14 mile Rotary Challenge.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, especially to the 96 runners who beat the Rotary Challenge train in under 1h 45m, despite the muddy conditions.

As always, many, many thanks to everyone involved in organising and helping out on the day. It’s a fantastic event for Tywyn and the Talyllyn Railway, the atmosphere and buzz is amazing. The train crews certainly enjoyed themselves racing the runners!
