So 47772 on the back was simply saving a path back to 10A - makes sense. Presumably she'll bimble across to Hellifield later for the return to Manchester.

As the set looks a lot like the one that was at Southall before Christmas is the heat now working in the Pullman liveried coach does anyone know?

Glad to see you got a bit of brightness and made the most of it. A very satisfactory start to the mainline year

Climbing away from Oxenholme 'Galatea' puts on a fine display as it speeds towards Grayrigg, Mick Rawling on the regulator, Frank Chippendale on the shovel
and Roly Parker keeping them in order. Less said about the weather the better.

    WCME 2b.jpg

The performance coming through the Lune had to be heard to be believed drowning out any M6 traffic noise, won't mention the weather!!

    WCME 3b.jpg

With Mick Rawling still driving, Martyn Soames took over on the shovel and with a great improvement in the weather LMS 5XP Class No. 45699 'Galatea' speeds
away from Armathwaite with the return leg of the first 'Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express' of 2018, had a good crack with Simon Kerry at this location

I have said it before but once again I'll refer you all to the work of Colin T Gifford, not all of it in colour or with sunshine over the shoulder but very evocative.
I know our world is very different to the one he and his contemporaries photographed but what you make of what's on offer is up to you !.

Not a bad start to the year by the way Ian, you are going to have to tell your little lad why BR red Jubilees are just wrong one day though .
I like the Lune gorge shot too Shep.

I think that all those who turned out today for stills or video should be thanked for theirs efforts which are much appreciated.
