Nothing like being first with the news but are you sure there's a Merchant behind all that steam? :)

There is clearly a problem with a steam gland somewhere there, sometimes it can take a few miles to warm everything up and for things to bed in i noticed on shot taken when on test that later on the leak seemed less , she is of course still very cold at this point and not warmed up yet

She really looks superb. Let's hope her performance gets there soon as well.

looking at RTT, she's back on time i'm assuming the 50 mph is because she is not fully ran in and they dont want to extend her too much, the return will im sure see higher speed running

I wouldn't read too much into it as RTT often includes paths apparently plotted at 200mph+ I think she got well over 50 on the test run sprint from Preston to Carnforth anyway?

Lovely to see her back a credit to all involved.

No the RTT speed is NOT the definitive maximum speed. It is a speed assumed in setting the path timings.

True, but unless 2 of the former eurostar platforms get given over to charter/ special workings etc, it won't be possible i'm assuming the former route off the SE section into Waterloo is still availible?

Just heard from outside the NRM yard

Galatea to run solo for the return... 35018's middle big end has "gone" and has been failed. It's to stay at the NRM for the time being

Eurostars used to come off the SE section Somewhere i am not sure where when working on 3rd rail and across london into Waterloo, i was wondering, if it was a suitable route for steam charters that originated from Waterloo going to Canterbury and round the Kent Coast returning via Tonbridge
