Fair point, but given the information publicly available, he is setting up a museum, it seems unlikely that he is doing what some have accused him of, and is acting within his rights.

A poster has claimed without evidence that the ownership of 3442 was transferred under certain conditions - that the locomotive should be painted a certain colour and that it should remain operational - and that those conditions have been deliberately breached. Whether his claims are correct or not is beside the point: it is a prima facie accusation of breach of contract and as such, it is actionable unless the poster in question can prove his claims. I would remind that poster and others that in both English and Scots law "A is liable for saying anything to C about B which would be apt to make the average citizen think worse of the latter." In other words, if you publish anything which might negatively affect the reputation of a named person then that is libel, and one poster in particular has libelled John Cameron in this thread, and he has aggravated that libel by making further defamatory statements as to Mr Cameron's character.

I strongly advise that all posts by that individual and certain others, and all references to those posts including this one, be deleted and that this thread be locked until certain individuals have calmed down.

Is it tho? Its only us lot on here that care so much about historical accuracy. I agree that it would be great to have the loco on the line for which she was built, but when you are an American/Chinese/any other ethnicity tourist, going to see the harry potter train in wildest Scotland, K4, B1, Black5, it makes zero odds to you, in the overwhelming majority of cases.

Complete tangent (but good grief this thread needs one before people find themselves in court!) Easy to tell the difference, entirely different cab arrangement.

Are you representing Mr Cameron and do you have the intention to take this case forwards before the courts?

If not, pipe doon! Its conjecture, on a forum, on THE INTERNET!

I bet you are a riot at party's!

Err, you are aware that THE INTERNET don't know if this is actually different from the internet, but let's assume 'shouting' doesn't change what it is we are talking about) is very much 'publishing' and actually, yes, both the poster and the Forum Owner could be sued for something posted on this site - as the Forum Owner has had such threats (completely unrelated to this topic AFAIK) in the past.

You mean one has a space where other railways have cab doors?! :D I know there's a few differences between the 2 7325 had/has balance weights on its buffer beam something to do with trying to wear the leading pair of driving wheels isn't it?

Quite so, but evidently certain people think that the law does not apply to them.

Arrives at Bo'ness tomorrow afternoon for display in the Museum of Scottish Railways from December until the loco's permanent home is ready.

Its sad that as far as I am aware the plans for its future see it as a static exhibit, given the very small number of LNER Locos that have been preserved

Not wanting to get involved in the wider debate regarding her future as that's been done to death (and then some!)

Looking at that photograph is probably the first time I have ever really looked closely at her (seen her in the flesh a few times, but always in motion!) and the siting of the nameplates seems odd, especially as they are longer than the smokebox? Is there a reason why the LNER sited them there rather than on the running plate which would seem more aesthetically pleasing?

Those ones are longer the smokebox. All of the K4s' names except Loch Long were too long for the smokebox...! Oh the irony.

Press release from the SRPS with comment from John Cameron, Chairman of the Cameron Railway Trust: http://www.bkrailway.co.uk/great-ma...-life-back-scotland-museum-scottish-railways/

"The Great Marquess starts a new chapter of its life back in Scotland at The Museum of Scottish Railways

We are delighted to announce that one of Scotland’s most famous steam locomotives, The Great Marquess, has arrived at our site having left the North Yorkshire Moors Railway where it has been resting since its withdrawal from service.

We have reached agreement with the Cameron Railway Trust for the Marquess to be displayed at Bo’ness until such time as the proposed Cameron Railway Trust is able to receive the locomotive for display at its proposed visitor centre facility in Fife.

The Nigel Gresley designed LNER Class K4 locomotive will stay with us for two years where it will be accessible to visitors along with the rest of our collection which has been recognised by the Scottish Government as being of national significance.

The locomotive, owned by Cameron Railway Trust, has had a long career in railway preservation having worked at a number of heritage railways and has run hundreds of miles on the mainline railway taking passengers on day excursions around Scotland and beyond.

It is anticipated that it will be on display at the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway Steam Gala on 21st and 22nd October and then move into the Museum shortly after. The locomotive will be just one of the attractions at the gala, where visitors will be able to make a journey in the societies’ vintage coaches and behind their home fleet and guest locomotive, Great Western Railway tank steam locomotive GWR 0-6-2T No. 5643.

Scottish Railway Preservation Society Chairman, Vic Michel commented: “The Great Marquess was built in 1938, It was designed to work on the West Highland Line being a very powerful and yet manoeuvrable locomotive, it was able to manage the steep gradients and sharp curves of the West Highland Line on which it was frequently used. It is very fitting that this locomotive should come back to Scotland and be on display at our Museum of Scottish Railways, we are delighted to be able to look after it and make it available for the public to see before it finally goes back home to ’John’s Museum’ I am sure it will be a very popular engine whilst it is with us.”

Cameron Railway Trust’s Chairman, John Cameron, said: “I am delighted that The Great Marquess is to come back to Scotland to Bo’ness and be available to be seen in the Society’s Museum for the next two years prior to going into our own ‘Visitor Centre’ in Fife, where – along with Loco 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’ it will also be available to be visited by the public.

The SRPS has used ‘The Great Marquess’ in the past to haul some of their charter trains, – so it is appropriate that they have it on display while the new Visitor Centre is under construction.”

We look forward to welcoming our visitors to see this great locomotive."
