One thing that's struck me about Lyn, is the size and spaciousness of the cab. Especially for a narow gauge locomotive. positively huge for such a small loco.

What happened to the post confirming it had arrived, run up and down and then been hidden away?

The safety valves look to me to be commercially available items that I have seen on modern boilers on steam boats. I must have been mistaken. I was surprised to read they had to be obtained from the states. Are they an unusual US thread form?

I rather suspect the clue was when the poster said "photographers were asked not to publish" - presumably that applied to observers too! Don't see what difference it makes though, we all knew it would be happening at some point in the next week or two! Ah well, 'spect both our posts will be deleted too!

I hear the cesspit grade rail enthusiasts are contacting the L&B demanding the date when the engine is going to come to the railway, and what route it is going on and the right to be allowed to take photos of it and getting bad tempered when this information/right isn't been given to them.

    I despair..................

What are the plans for her future operation, will she be the main loco operating all services subject to availability, or for high days and holidays only?

I demand to know when Lyn will be running on the mainline out of Waterloo! ... oh, wait;)

Those who are 762 club members will already know that any demands as to the when and the route are now a tad moot :D:p

A Lyn update on the L&B Members page with lots of photos and a message that Lyn will not be on view to the public, so don't turn up expecting to see her. I'll be attending the Gala on Sunday 1st October to see her in action for myself.

Well the cat is out of the bag as they say and I can't wait to see her. Lyn has been the one loco I have always wanted to see get built.

I have another couple of ideas to follow this up with so I need to have a word in the ear of those that can make it happen at the Gala.

Onwards and upwards as they say.

Seen two photos, one yesterday on Facebook last night and one a few days earlier being loaded onto transport, as that one was rapidly removed from Facebook I kept quiet.

Well now it is public a few things over this engine.

Will hard hat signs be put onto the doors as the cab looks high but the fireman and driver have more than once bumped their heads in the cab.

The oil pipes needed tweaking to operate well.

The front truck has to be modified as the pointwork is too sharp for it to go around and some midnight oil is been burnt to get it modified with what I understand instead of two bars there will be only one bar on it now. So for now it has to just run up and down and needs to be fixed before preview day.

The boiler pressure is set to 220.

There will be GWR style cab seats added to the cab for the engine driver and fireman.

Currently with only one fireman been trained up so far this will mean that the engine will be only work so many days for starters.

Also I was asked to take down my post when I posted that the engine had arrived on the railway and so this was why it was missing.

The photos on the members page are stunning, especially the one of Lyn in the platform, with the sunset behind.
She looks for all the world like she's never been away...

Sorry for this red herring, the photo was of course genuine, but the 762 Club and L&B Trust wanted to keep LYN's arrival quiet as long as possible. I'm sure I can rely on you all to not ever tell anyone anything about LYN! :):):)
    Oh wait - :Resistanceisfutile:

It makes sense to take the time to learn how to fire her right, I did ask a few question at the Keef's open day, its the one thing I want to learn to do, I am not fussed about driving her, the art for me is making her go and being able to keep her going

Beautiful photo, Martyn. Funny thing though- Even with photographic evidence that Lyn is reborn, and back there on the reborn L&B with Exmoor in the background (and foreground, obviously) I still can't quite believe it. I guess I'll be at the gala too.

I visited the Railway on Tuesday and not expecting to see LYN there at all and was rewarded with seeing her in steam and on test.
