The original Friday Scarborough Flyers never had a diesel attached.
These days pathing via Diggle is very difficult, last Wednesdays WRC Kidderminster to Scarborough diesel charter was looped both at Chelford and Diggle to allow services to pass. The return however was via the Calder valley route.

I am (very!) reliably informed that 60103 has made two runs through Standedge (NOT Diggle) tunnel since its return to traffic last year, albeit engine and coach only. So it's been confirmed that an LNER Pacific will fit on the route.

And 60163 is even more 'gauge friendly' than 60103, is it not?

Sorry for the folk who had to cancel, but have just booked on this morning. Ring UKRT, you may be lucky.
Hope I've got enough blank notebooks...

Looks like its going to be a jolly old day out, I assume that the A1ST steward their own tours, the stewards and support crew are going to have a hell of a day, in the case of the latter between getting her up and putting her to bed its getting on for 24 hours straight.

Off topic but looking at the timings, out of interest how big is the water capacity of Tornado's tender as Birmingham - Preston (including a lot of faffing round Birmingham) is a hell of a stint? I assume as the tender does not look different to other LNER ones this could also be done with other tenders to get capacity up and avoid the need for two tenders or a GUV?

The water capacity for Tornado is around 6,200 gallons, original A1 tenders were 5,000 gallons.

Cheers. Went on wait list in Aug when I booked the Easterling and Chester trips.

Missing out on Clan Line next week as was booked on the original date but can't do re-scheduled date. It's swings and roundabouts. Tomorrow bit of a roundabout...

Regarding the water issue, 60103 managed 107 miles York-Appleby without a water stop on 6 August, and that presumably has slightly less capacity because of the corridor.

For anyone driving up please be aware that junction 1-2 M5 was shut last night, not sure it be again for Saturday. Best check Highways agency. Also the m5 has 30mph roadworks down to two lanes.

Don't I bloody well know it! Had to drive cross country to my hotel in Dudley to avoid any farce.
