According to the letter with the ticket it is 45690 Leander.
Leander is also meant to be doing the RTC Waverley on Sunday, but I wonder if it will be 45699 instead which I think is still at York?

Must say, even as a dyed in the wool lover of all things Southern, that does not look wrong.

Thought both Jubs were at York. Did 5690 return to Carnforth after its most recent Waverley?

Maybe Mr Robinson will ask for 35018 on a tour next year, call it the Southern Yorkshireman , deisel from waterloo .across the west london line, up the west coast to Blackburn where 35018 comes on over the S & C then back to london or even better, deisel to Carnforth, then 35018 powers the return back to waterloo

It does because it is but maybe not for anyone red/green colourblind!

Indeed they were - and very smart they look to. But always interesting to see something in a different colour (even - may I say - if it didn't wear it in service).

Obviously, most people who care about it will want to see 35018 out shopped in Br Green lined out with its nameplates on, and to make it different from 35028, or any of the others, it could even carry the early crest, as i understand as the first rebuild, she did carry the original crest .
I'm still holding out for the day when 35018 and 35028 pass each other on the mainline somewhere, or are at the buffer stops at Waterloo side by side in 2018

I agree when done stylishly a genuine livery applied unusually is good to see. Would not mind seeing 46115 in authentic BR blue or maroon next time for example.

I suppose it depends on whether you think railway preservation is about a recreation of the past (i.e. History) or just painting things in pretty colours.

The two positions are not mutually exclusive.

On a heritage railway, perhaps. For a locomotive that will spend its time hauling WCRC liveried carriages past LED signals under OHLE on charter trips, filling its tender up from fire service appliances, I would say you're far enough away from recreating history that it's not that important. Nice, but not important.

A 'recreation of the past', albeit with high visibility lights, air brakes, OHLE flashes, OHLE itself, TPWS, OTMR & AWS, reduced height fittings, rakes of MK1 & 2s in various liveries, continuous welded rail, overgrown vegetation, concrete sleepers, colour light signals, and those are just of the top of my head.

I'm in two minds about this. Being a old f*rt I would prefer to see locomotives in a colour I can remember from my trainspotting days, but as a video photographer the different liveries are good. 35028 is sacrosanct as far as livery is concerned, but 35018 why not?
