On a 25 year hire - who pays for the 10 year overhauls? Are the loco owners expected to fund this out of hire revenue? If said revenue is insufficient, will the loco spend the remainder of the 25 year period out of use?

My wife has just rung me from the car on the M4 on her way back to Somerset. She has been delayed by nearly an hour due to a slow moving large load near Reading. It turned out to be a steam engine and tender on two lorries, the number ? 7822 :):)

ThanksRobin. I'd prefer to dump it somewhere for the day, but if not, I'll carry it around. I went to Berlin so had to carry around a suitcase from the Bluebell FS event; this is proving to be a habit. :p

I recall a conversation about 4277 before it made its journey south. Initially, I understand, when the loco was offered, it was declined. However someone on the operating side of the railway soon heard about this and suggested that 4277 was just what the line needed. The rest, as they say, is history.

4277 was a bit of a Nomad in its first ticket though, I had it at the SVR, ELR and NYMR during that time. Aren't they all connected to Pete Best btw?

I don't think 75014 is part of Pete's stable. Happy to be told I'm wrong, though.

3205 is a very nice loco, I was disappointed that when she was at the WSR she was never in use the days I was there.
But I have been able to ride behind her on the SDR a couple of times.

UKSteam suggests a diesel is to haul the RTC charter to/from BL/Minehead. Is that correct?

In the 1960s, I saw a taxi in London, W1 near Oxford Circus with the doors covered in woven wicker effect vinyls. The registration plate was NAB1 and there was a large moustache on the gent travelling in it!!

I'm just a bit disappointed with the FS timetable on the website. I'd hoped it might have shown the Scotsman's passing times at the intermediate stations.
