Some of the creepy-crawly little parasites involved went on social media and boasted about it. Real criminal masterminds.

More to the point, what are the police doing about it?

@Chris Price on Facebook has commented that the Police response has been good . Plenty of DNA left behind and allegedly a lot of social media evidence which has been captured

There has been at least 1 arrest. The footage that appeared on social media resulted in 3 other scrotes being identified.

There have been some comments on FB what some would like to do with these people if they caught them. Lucky in one respect they they weren't set alight, that is not to say it wasn't bad enough.

They were not detained. The carriage cleaner raised the alarm but could not be expected to prevent them leaving as was on his own at that point.

I nearly went 'off on one' myself, until I recalled this is the public section, not general chat. In fact, you lucky people, I've just deleted reams of invective for a second... scratch that..... third time!

For now, the insurance industry will probably be the best source of advice to minimise the potential for vandals to wantonly deface and destroy at will.

Would the judiciary remain as sanguine if it were their property being thus targeted? That was a purely rhetorical question!

Could be "good" news for once.

Hope they are found or plead guilty & punished accordingly.
2 girls unbelievably & all only 13/14. Released for nearly a month as well, so what's to stop them doing it again? What are the parents doing letting them roam round doing this?
That's the trouble with long school holidays. Wouldn't of happened in my day 50-60 years ago.

Vandalism at the Severn Valley Railway where graffiti has been sprayed on coaches over the last couple of days or so. Article in the Mail today shows a Gresley teak and a GWR coach so attacked. Sorry can't put up a link due to computer problem.

    reported on BBC Yorkshire today

All eight teenagers pleaded guilty to theft and criminal damage:

    • Mollie Dawson, 18, of Keld Head Orchard, Kirbymoorside, received a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay fines and costs totaling £635.88
    • Benjamin Terry, 19, of Jute Road, York, was also given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay fines and costs of £135.88
    • Jonathan Wray, 18, from Lendales Lane, Pickering, was ordered to pay compensation of £530 and will have to complete a 12 month youth offending panel contract
    • Two 17-year-old boys, from Pickering, who cannot be named because of their age, were given a youth offending panel contract for six months and will have to pay fines and costs totalling £135 each
    • A 17-year-old girl from Pickering and a 17-year-old boy, both from Ampleforth, who cannot be named, were ordered to pay compensation of £535 and complete a twelve-month youth offending panel contract
    • A 17-year-old boy, from Malton, was ordered to pay compensation of £535 and will have to complete a 12 month youth offending panel contract.
In addition to the financial outlay, it must have been heart breaking for all those who had invested a considerable amount of time and hard work to see it destroyed in this way by these mindless vandals."

sentences don't matter too much, they'll have a criminal record now and that will hurt them more.
