Quite a few P&R sites now charge to park as well as travel, Tiverton P&R (rail park and ride) and Cambridge (bus based), so Norton P&R charging to park is nothing new.

a 98 headcode might have been authentic (if 33s every worked the branch) I was happy with 33

as an aside do these SR route codes still exist anywhere officially now? the 377s carried the 2 digit number on the scrolling display for a short while. AIUI they were rendered obsolete with destination blinds on Class 455 onwards

    33s did appear from time to time:- 70-5-24 4 1123 6535+6513.jpg 70-5-24 5a 1123 6513+6535.jpg

This is Corfe Castle on Whit Sunday, 24/5/70, with 6515+6535 +3x4TC with a return ramblers excursion to Waterloo. Hope it is of interest.
( Dare I draw attention to the headcode carried on the Hampshire Unit!)

I think maybe the parking charge set in context isn't so bad. Come to Bath (similar tourist honeypot) and parking for a day will be the wrong side of £10. I don't do it often but I know last week when I parked for the day in town to get the train up to London that was £10.10 which was the discounted railway price - parking a few feet away in the same car park would I think have been £14. OK so if you're travelling into Swanage as a family, the train tickets on top will add up but I suspect most people make the train trip part of the day out and if they then spend the day on the beach for free its not an expensive day out. If the car park keeps being expanded it probably isn't an issue that the charge is at its current levels.

Oh and 33025 seems to be sulking again. Was probably the culprit for a half hour delay at Corfe at the weekend and has now been taken off again today replaced by 33012.

Trips tomo start at Eastleigh and finish at Southall. Probably not the loco that's being swapped?

The 4TC going to Swanage, and WCRC coaches going to Southall perhaps?

Sounds like it was a wise move to have a spare loco for the Wareham services!

Why is there a preference for using the LUL 4TC, rather than continue using the WCRC coaches that are already at Swanage?

Cheaper to hire? WCRC coaches needed elsewhere?

While WCR is the TOC for the Wareham service are Swanage Rail staff allowed to take the controls between Wareham and Worgret Junction in order to gain experience for next year when (if I understand correctly) Swanage Rail will be TOC operating the service.

Well they have a couple of 33s, and a 4TC under restoration. The only thing missing is a Hampshire unit. Something I've always thought is a major gap in the Swanage railway's collection.

Looks like this must be the swap of the 4TC with the WCRC stock.

The only question is will one or both locos be swapped as well. It was already planned for the 37 to be replaced with a 33 or 47 at some point. However with 33025 playing up, maybe that will be swapped instead or as well.
