The Scot had plenty of power for the ascent up to churston. The problem was both the Exhaust and Live steam injectors were being rather troublesome once we'd left Paignton. Which is why the train was stopped just short of Churston, whilst still on the hill so we could have a few "quiet" words with it. They both kicked out again going through churston, so the train was stopped again until we were comfortable with the water level before going "over the top". Once we'd got some fresh cooler water in the tank, they seemed to behave a lot better, resulting in a much more expected attack of the climb from Kingswear.

The curiosity of the tour was largely around the issues affecting TBEL last weekend, which could not have been avoided and no-one was suggesting any action. The use of Diesel on this tour was well publicised. The question was how active steam would be. The answer was a relief that 46100 did most of the work expected. That is good news.

As for suppressing comment that you do not favour, maybe you should reflect - "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." - Evelyn Beatrice Hall. All opinions are of equal value.
