The reversal at Maindee North on the way to Newport suggests that FS will be working the train from Bristol rather than coming on at Newport as indicated on uksteam. Anyone know for sure?

That's interesting as there is a 5Z60 (47 + ECS?) Kingsland Road to Bristol TM (platform 6).
    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55222/2017/05/23/advanced

There is also a 5Z59 (FS + support coach?) from SPM to Bristol TM (up through road).

I have seen no mention of a SPM to Newport move for FS. <BJ>

As shown on uksteam, 1Z60 is Bristol Temple Meads to Gloucester, reversing at Maindee N Jn (ie passengers throughout)

I also thought that uksteam had mentioned that the Bristol to Newport section was diesel hauled.

Oh well, that's old age for you. <BJ>

uksteam was saying 60103 Newport-Gloucester-Bristol. It now says Bristol-Maindee N Jn as well, i.e. all the way apart from the backwards bit from Maindee North into Newport. Unclear whether the diesel that takes to train into Newport will then stay on the back or head off separately.

Well at least it gives everyone a chance of seeing a nice slow 'pass' of Scotsman although it is rather bemusing that there are normally no restrictions at these stations for steam generally. Didn't realise that Scotsman was that problematic.

Might be because of the amount of people that could be on the platforms to see Scotsman, judging by some of the station pics from the trip on Friday.

Surprised at the small numbers of people out to see the train today compared with Friday. There were just 20 people at Lawrence Hill station.
No doubt due to the timings not so readily available to the general public (local newspapers and TV).

I was informed that additional work has been taking place at SPM this week to ensure that Scotsman was able to run today. Can anyone verify? <BJ>

Sufficient people about to cause a small traffic jam on the road behind me, which was to my advantage as it cut the traffic noise down by at least 75%

I see that earlier images have no wreath and later ones have a wreath om the smokebox door - did they add the wreath due to the events in Manchester or some other reason?

Two shots of 60103 running like a sewing machine at Cogload Junction, on the second shot a family turned up , my missus said to the children when they saw the smoke could they be quiet as could because of the camcorder, they behaved beautifully, the parents ? Well too much to ask .
