How do you make that inference? - The Theme doesn't promise that.

Anyway, let's all have a great time - we all have our own preferences but the hard working SEPT can never please everybody at the same time. I'm sure they try their best, and as I shall not be off to Africa to see my son in 2017, I'll be somewhere near Crowcombe for this event.

It makes me wonder where Mattel can take Thomas & Friends if MD isn't big enough.

But I seem to recall mention of a triangular piece of land, not far from BL. Several Annie & Clarabels would fit the platform & there seems to be room to park some automobiles too. (I know there are some planning constraints).
Just suppose Flying Scotsman arrived the same weekend - that would be quite an event!
    Think about it.......................

    Here? https://www.draytonmanor.co.uk/thomas-land

My hunch is that they prefer a theme park, as they have more control over the product, and it also probably represents better opportunity for directly profiting from "added-extra" sales (merchandising, catering etc.) Saying Minehead is too small feels like a statement of intent that they don't see heritage railways as integral to the long term future for marketing Thomas.

I think that you'll find that it doesn't mean that the locomotives have to have been based in Somerset.
Think of the title as 'Enjoy Steam in Somerset during Springtime 2017'.

    From the WSR website:

''Join the West Somerset Railway to enjoy Somerset Steam in Springtime. Where we enjoy visits from an array of locomotives from far and wide. These locomotives are to be confirmed. Please keep an eye on this page for further information''.

It is big enough for large numbers of adults clutching quantities of prized possessions.

But not big enough for carefully-controlled numbers of small people..

    Huh?:Banghead:

  18. Excellent, we're running a QB service that day. Make a nice backdrop methinks.

    That's my birthday!

It's early closing day, so there won't be many folks around, so the size of the MD platform won't matter.
