again I agree with Fred. What you would end up with is a butchered Class 27 made into a Class 21 lookalike. There seemed to be a fair bit of support for a genuine replica class 22, has this been just thrown away.?

I havn't studied the 2017 programme, it seems to have been dumbed down a bit over the original, possibly because of competition from the Grand Hibernian

I'd agree with Fred and the connections currently had with Scotland would suggest a class 21 is more likely. Does your group actually own the power unit OP?

It's the accommodation that is Luxury, and you can't do the train without it as far as I know

do the RPSI weekend and be amongst enthusiasts, you probably wont enjoy the posh trip and would be very out of place.

Manors and other decent engines like Halls are very wide over the cylinders and won't clear the platform edge at lesser railways . Slewing the track a few inches might solve that problem and allow decent engines to be operated. Mind you some...

Beat me to it. I agree that the Explorer is aimed at the well heeled tourist who fancies a bit of nostalgia along with the luxury. RPSI day trips and the International Tour are the ones for enthusiasts.
