I'd forgotten about that! I was thinking about more normal times! Yes I remember that gala - everyone had to have a reserved seat and you weren't supposed to travel on any other train. They even took your temperature when you turned up!

Yes - I found the booking process a little confusing. It almost looks like you have to book a driver slot and/or a shed tour to continue. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a steam gala being sold out (unless Flying Scotsman is involved). In my...

An interesting debate but it's very much a personal viewpoint and just because a particular gala doesn't "rock your boat" it doesn't mean to say it's bad. There are a great number of events going on and unless you have unlimited time and money...

Yes indeed - very enjoyable day at the Valley today. Stars for me were 4930 - looked great with the GWR coaches, 13268 - fabulous paint job, and 72 - Little old Fenchurch from the Bluebell which did very well on the Hampton Loade shuttles as far...

Can anyone confirm which way 4930 is facing? I'm guessing that it is facing Kidderminster - is that correct and are there any plans to turn it during the gala?
