Agree with you OTW. but Tornado is in a different class and has precedent of running over the route with 13 in both good and bad weather with no problem. That is in accordance with the guidelines.

The penultimate week has been tricky with the weather with Loch Nan Uamh fairing best but the colours look stunning this year. https://www.flickr.com/photos/146487151@N02/37104746644/in/dateposted-public/...

It's been a "challenging" week weather wise for photography up here combined with chronic roadworks (four sets between Fort William and Lochailort!) has meant photo opportunities have been more limited than usual which is a shame as the leaves...

They could always cast 'Rudolph' nameplates for Galatea and hang some antlers on the smokebox door :Updated:;)

I only wish they had bought more RHTT fluid and been out with it, not only because the trains would have run okay, but also because we make and supply it! :D It's not only leaf fall that's the problem, it's any lineside vegetation that gives the...

Look, it was what it was. Yes, a big risk was taken but WCR got away with it, rather Mick Kelly rescued it for them. Move on. The disaster didn't happen. Still think WCR had the solution 'in house', Galatea to double head with Leander, but they...

I reckon the enginemanship on Wilpshire has got to be up there with the heroic effort to get 45407 out of Bradford Interchange up to Bowling tunnel on 28th January 2006. They never tried that again..................

They were the worst railhead conditions on Wilpshire I've seen in 20+ years. Rust and way more leaves than I expected. Adhesion was nigh on unmeasurable. Doubt if the DMUs managed the bank without slipping. Doubt one driven axle would have been...

The last southbound RHTT between Clitheroe and Blackburn was the previous evening at 19.00 from Clitheroe, so full marks to Mick Kelly for getting his train up the bank on clearly a very difficult rail. I was near Clitheroe and could see him...

CME 14 October 2017 – 45690 Leander hauling 11+POB I decided to take the service train from Blackburn to Preston and join the train there; this would ensure an earlier return home should the trip be delayed for any (autumnal) reason. Mrs W was...
