Mangapps are staging their annual gala over the August Bank Holiday w/e, numerous 03/04s and also 33 202! All diesel on the Saturday, plus steam on Sunday and Monday.
Unusual rolling stock includes cl.302 EMU vehicles and a Canadian Pacific caboose. Anyone ridden one of those before? See their website, www.mangapps.co.uk

The web site is saying last updated May 24th and has no details of what will be there. Do you have a more recent source than this?
Can you say what is the source of your information about 33202? Last I heard, it would have to be moved in from a nearby industrial estate by low-loader.

    Thanks

Currently D2325 and 03s 081, 197 & 399 and H/C Elland No.1 are booked to be operating, plus 03 089 provided re-painting is completed. I am assured that 33 202 will also be there, we do have low-loaders in Essex! (And, by the way, your information is wrong- it's not on an industrial estate!) My source? Horse's mouth, of course!

I can confirm that all the above will be in operation, except 03 089 which may not be finished in time. In addition all other resident locos, including newly-arrived 31 530, will be accessible for photography.
Saturday 24th will be all diesel, steam will be represented on Sunday and Monday by 0-4-0ST AB 2157. A free bus service will operate between Burnham Station and Mangapps on Saturday ONLY.

    Great news!
Is there going to be a timetable or if you just want 1-2 of the locos, will you have to turn up and wait?
I wouldn't want to turn up for the afternoon and find I'd missed 33202 or turn up first thing and find it won't be working until the end of the day.

No set timetable (at how many galas do's the timetable survive the first hour?!) It's a relatively short line and with quick change-overs all the booked locos will get at least one run every 2 hours. In the unlikely event that the loco you want dos'nt run when you want it to, there's still plenty to see!

Look at the PLEG website-all locos work morning and afternoon. Probably the friendliest line I've visited and the owner usually accommodating to on the day requests!
Plenty to see around the site. Went last year for 03197 and ended up staying most of the day without intending to do so.

Bit of a pity that the bus doesn't operate on the day when steam is actually running otherwise i would have been tempted to visit. Not been since i was a kid!

Its an amazing line to visit lots of loco"s the museum is fantastic with its collection of totems and signaling plus station name boards a lot of them in
Great Eastern blue, had a great day there two years ago, includes a nice cafe/restaurant in what looked like an old southern buffet coach from a portsmouth line
4-cor electric set, might be wrong though. But well worth a visit even my wife liked it and that is really saying something.

Slightly wrong, but entirely forgivable! It's a LSWR "Ironclad" brake 3rd, latterly a breakdown tool & riding van.

Oh, the youth of today! It's a mile and a quarter from Burnham station to Mangapps- even I can do it in 25 mins. You wouldn't have got round many steam sheds if you couldn't manage that!

Thanks. Will you be in a position to confirm when it's arrived?

Nothing to do with how old I am at all....?

I walk the 2 miles to work pretty much every day and very often i do it back aswell.

On google map part of the route if walking doesn't massively appeal with no footpath!

I was merely saying it's a shame the bus isn't provided when steam is running....

Also can someone confirm which is the first train that the bus will meet? The opening times for the site are given as 1130-1700.
Will the bus meet the 11:21 arrival at Burnham or will the 1201 arrival be the first one it meets?

The bus will meet the 11:21 and each train thereafter.
