That photo appears to date from June 2005, those vehicles moved on many years ago.

Darned if I can find the page now but a couple of days ago I found a photo of 3 Mk1's at Long Marston supposedly owned by the Avon Valley. The accompanying note implied that the site was needed for redevelopment. Might be worth following up.

North end of the site. Click back a few pages on this thread and there should be some pics.

    EDIT - see page 49

    Regards

If you want to find the carriages still present at Long Marston Depot, then use the great searching tool from vintagecarriagetrust.
Here are the result with the Mark 1 Coaches:

I think there are even 4 Mark 1 located at Long Marston...

A very sensible scheme and, I think, the right priorities. I'd like to support but, from the booklet, there seems to be no provision for on-line payments. As mentioned in the recent "Membership" thread, without this potential supporters can be faced with unnecessary extra costs and the organisation may well miss out on useful income.

Is the site only big enough for a two road shed? The incremental cost of making it three road would not be that great and would then allow the Mk 1 service set to be under cover as well (I assume to dining coaches will be given priority as things stand).

That's much better - you had my attention to the end! :Jawdrop: :)

Only on little nit-pick though, if you can change it - page 4, para 4 doesn't read right.......... "carriage facility shed" should really read "Carriage shed facility" - personally I'd shoot the proof reader, or ask them to lay off the grog! ;)

For a minute there I thought you meant Feelin Foul or Brains SA..........

Its only one slip, easily amended on a PDF.......

Though seriously, I hope it comes to fruition & I for one will be jealous as the MHR can only dream about proper covered accommodation for the carriages, never mind out "troublesome trucks! :(

While this is an excellent development, and the sheds featuring TVR28 on display, with vintage and Mk1 coaches, would be a splendid sight. I do have two words for you:-

    Get. PayPal.

Please. Make it easier please for people to donate to your cause!

Of course if this is realized it begs the question of what the relief/loop lines/sidings at Llwyfan Cerrig, which are now freed up, will ultimately be used for. I can only assume a wagon works too. :) Wagons need TLC too!

    .......the Mid Hants Railway???

My guess, probably an HMRC thing to ensure tax reliefs are only applied to donations from UK taxpayers.

the MHR have a carriage works but afaik the running coaches don't have accommodation. Not an unusual situation on most lines.
