Today's train is running OK according to RTT, just a few minutes late, but no-one has posted here yet to confirm what's on the front.

There's a picture of it at Victoria on Twitter. Union of South Africa on the front:).

Both UK Steam and Steam Dreams show 60009's return from Salisbury as via Richmond, and RTT show it as via Hounslow/Brentford. Some got caught out with Scotsman a month back, when all said Richmond, but it went via Hounslow. So be wary if hoping to catch it in that area.

60009 seemed to be steadily losing time after Basingstoke to Brookwood. There was nothing in front of it by several minutes at Pirbright Junction. Looked and sounded good though.

Dilton Marsh Railway Station, subject of the John Betjeman poem Dilton Marsh Halt,

And when all the horrible roads are finally done for,
And there’s no more petrol left in the world to burn,
Here to the Halt from Salisbury and from Bristol
    Steam trains will return.

I think it got about 150 yards before the crew realised it was on the move and opened the regulator

We don't know why the train was late arriving at Brookwood or why it lost a bit more time there, but as mrKnowun's video shows it was holding up a train behind, so once it was ready to move it did need to get away as fast as possible. Though we much prefer not to have a diesel on the back, when one is there it might as well make itself useful.

Does anyone know timings for Sunday's trip to Weymouth or have any ideas why they're so late being published?
