You have to wonder why some railways are continually pushing for expansion, when photos like that apparently show them to be unable to take care of what they already have properly.

Based on my visit there about 10 years ago, I'd say that there's a catch 22 at work for a small site like that - you need the extension to justify the effort.

Other than to exercise my red pen, it's unlikely I'd go back for what they currently have. But a link to the Ironbridge branch, and I'd be very interested, as that's just a completely different prospect.

Good luck to TSR. I enjoyed my visit a couple of years ago, even though the ride was a bit limited at that time. I'm always amazed at what these places can achieve with low levels of funding and a small workforce.

"The committee of the 504 Preservation Society was formed on the 8th November 2015 with the intention of restoring and preserving the last remaining Class 504 Electric Multiple Unit."

    No thanks.

And what has my involvement with the 504 group have to do with the the TSR or the autocoach?

For your information the 504 is progressing forward in small steps. A bit like the TSR. We're expanding to draw in more visitors, more visitors gives us more income, more income means we can gain more resources to do everything that we'd like to do with a small workforce. The autocoach is having work started on it this year. We're awaiting the construction of a temporary work facility so that we can work on our stock under cover and therefore not be dictated to by the great British weather. We'll also be starting work on our carriage shed later on this year, a facility which will mean that the autocoach can be stored under cover along with our other coaches.

But obviously don't bother to find out the facts before jumping to conclusions eh? Less fun that way!

A pity their public relations is so bad then. 6 months waiting for a reply from the 'appropriate person', despite several acknowledged reminders....., and that is through the official website!

Once our Mk2's are finished attention will be turning to our LFK and W38. And putting sheets on W38 will only accelerate the rotting.

Any suggestion that sheeting W38 to keep the rain out will accelerate the rotting is completely at odds with what is done to conserve unrestored wooden bodied stock the length & breadth of the UK. These bodies are constructed with steel screws and a quick look at the remains of two GWR non corridor coaches at Winchcombe shows what happens once the wet gets in.

I, too, can't agree with the idea that a sheet "will only accelerate the rotting" however the majority of the damage to one of the non-corridors at Winchcombe was caused by fire.

Used the 'contact' address on the website, to recover my property in store there. Since had contact with another, still waiting on the 'appropriate person' to come back to me.... Not bad for a request made in October 2016.

As I replied to you in June, we are trying to find the items you stored on site.

As I am sure you can appreciate, when you leave items "in storage" at a heritage railway for nearly 15 years they don't always stay where they were put.

Rest assured as soon as we have hunted them all down, or unscrewed them from running track we will be in touch.

I would also like to add that we are always looking for new volunteers, especially those with experience of carriage restoration. If any of you would like to come and assist with the autocoach, or any other piece of rolling stock we are working on, you will be made not only endless cups of tea and coffee, but also very welcome!
