No, not some ghastly cartoon game, where one has to spot a bobble-hatted Hall in amongst a cornucopia of Castles...

My son was returning home to Cymru from Abroad (England) yesterday evening (Monday 8th May); nearing Stoke on Trent, he passed a large locomotive, on a transporter, heading west.

He identified it as standard gauge, and remembered the name as 'Witherspoon Hall' - he was tired and hungry at the time - I suggested Witherslack Hall, and he was certain that he'd spotted the number 6990.

Simply out of curiosity, as a Google search has turned up nothing informative, does anyone know where the Hall was heading - assuming I've identified the right locomotive?

Coming this way from the GCR, the most obvious destination would be Llangollen - unless Boston Lodge are becoming very adventurous...

Any info much appreciated - thanks, everyone.

Going to the East Lancs Railway, from their forum

"6990 Witherslack Hall arrived today from the GCR for a visit until the end of July. First day in service 24/5/17"

About 10 miles from where I am sat as I type this, just off the A590, lovely Paley and Austin piece.

Oh did you mean the locomotive, not the building ;)

I know some of you have ELR connections so does anyone know if 6990's rostered for tomorrow and which services it's hauling?

You know, I've been on the ELR site a hundred times and never seen that bit of it. Thank you!

Anyway, although we didn't ride behind 6990 we got to see it in action. Also, if the feller who showed us round the Standard 4 shed is on her, very much obliged to you, and we chucked a few bob in the collection box.
