Would it go to wsr by rail/road. Can't wait to finally see a king. Saves the trip up to didcot.

As it would need to access NR metals anyway to go by road due to the lack of road access at didcot it would seem odd to risk the damage of loading and unloading. I suppose cost will be the key test but a diesel drag in light steam would seem a sensible solution?

Any news regarding 6023's presumably imminent transfer to the WSR for load testing?

Curious about King Edward II. Seems to me it is puddling around on low speed lines only. Is it certified for mainline and if so might it get to stretch it's legs in 2017 although it's good just to see it in steam and at least moving however slowly. Like the old videos of King Edward V great exhaust cadence at speed and those beautiful tall drive wheels rolling.

It seems that it is to go to the West Somerset Railway for a period of running-in prior to it going out on the main line.
    Time will tell.

I think it's fair to say the Loco is already run in, (GC & Mid Norfolk) the reason for the move to the WSR, is to prove the new Blast pipe arrangement 'under load' as previously, due to the necessary lowering of the single chimney to suit the mainline height restriction of 13'-1", she would not produce steam in the quantity required to haul a train, hopefully this modification will do the trick, if so, it is expected KE2 will run a test train back to the GWS at Didcot, then, if successful, she will be certified as a mainline loco.

Well she isn't going anywhere for the next fortnight, DRC are advertising places on the next Railway Experience Day on Thursday 30th March when the King will be in use via Facebook.

Also on Facebook she is all over the advertising for the 50 years at Didcot gala on 14 April–17 April so assume she will be at Didcot for that also?

Suppose it rather depends on long she needs to be at WSR, if its just a few days running and then a loaded test back to DRC the dates could all work?

I'd imagine it would be prudent to factor in a certain amount of "tweaking" time while at the WSR, I can't imagine it being 100% perfect out of the box.

Assuming the only reason for the WSR visit is to test the new draughting with the loco working hard, and that it is otherwise ready for main line running, will it run to Somerset under its own power? Or will it go behind a diesel? And does DRC have a support coach to go with it?

The gala is also on 22-23 April and 29 April - 1 May. (There are three facebook events, one for each weekend).

It appears that 6023 will still be at Didcot for the forthcoming Gala events. I wonder if there will be an announcement soon from the GWS at Didcot or the WSR regarding the actual date that the loco will be going to the WSR for load testing? Surely it must be travelling to Somerset soon?

6023 sounds very crisp and healthy in the videos from last weekend's Easter steamings at Didcot. Surely it will be going to the WSR or somewhere else for load testing, prior to main line running, very soon?

Keeping fingers crossed, I really want to see her rolling on the mainline.
