I thought that was his own 35009?

If I remember rightly the rumour said 35009 would have gone BR Express Blue and 35018 in Lined Black.

I still favour the WCRC red mooted at the start of this thread. Something different and of course, authentic for 2017!

I think that was a spoof story on the flimsy basis that Ian Riley's other locos are black, not surprising as they are LMS Black 5s, clue in the name.

That wouldn't be very good if they are using it to recall the days of real steam in 1967 later in the year.

If BIL is destined for some work in the south, Carnforth wouldn't dare send it down other than in green. There is, of course, the imminent withdrawal of Scots Guardsman that must be out of ticket soon. 10A will need something half decent to pull around anything heavier than 10 so a Class 8 for a Class 7 seems like a timely swap.

Vis your first point Alan you may be in grave danger of mistaking the owner for someone who gives a fig?
Agree entirely that 35018 may give 46115 some respite and for that reason alone can see it living in Lancashire for the early phase of its new life at least. Plenty of good bedding in work up here this summer.

given the rarity value of any MN hauled tour anywhere north of watford i can see any tour with 35018 as engine selling very quickly i wonder if it will start deisel hauled from london for that exact reason

Didn't that Mr Wilcock have a similer sort of conversation with Mr Smith a few years ago regarding 46115 going green? I believe Mr Smith said something along the lines of 'it might be green, it might be Stroudley improved engine green' Mr Wilcock replied with something like 'you wouldn't dare' I believe Mr Smith's reply was something like 'Go on then, try me' I think Mr Wilcock said he thought it was a good idea to shut up then.

Which is why livery debates are best kept offline.

Very true! Hopefully it won't be too long before that happens either!
