I would rather go into Boverington camp borrow a leopard A4, or Chalenger 2, load up with HESH rounds, stabilised sigts, one shot one kill,:) now, wheres those GWR locos the button transfer makes a good sighting marker

I'm single at the moment, and fine with that, but haven't always been so, nor is that the 'natural' state for human beings. If we are lucky that fate brings along the right person to share some of our life with, then that is to be celebrated, especially when two folks have spent 35 years together.

Ah, but I spent the first 20 years down at Swanage, so technically it is only 15 years ;)

34081 will be visiting the SVR for their gala 2 weeks before. I wonder if she'll go straight home or head for Swanage first?
Interesting way of putting it! Surely it yours as well, not just hers? ;-)

While everyone is getting excited about 34081 - and rightly so, may I add - so far, nothing has been mentioned about the fourth "original" Bulleid - 34092 City of Wells. It would be good if this engine could make an appearance at one of the end of SR Steam galas.

the only way would be if several railways were to share the cost of movement from one railway to another, and what the best options would be, either by low loader, or if railways were rail conected, a single rail movement for instance, what would the low loader cost be to say move 34046 and the other engines from Swanage to Alresford, as oppossed in one movement by rail assuming the non mainline engines are ok to be hauled in light steam over NR metals,

Great idea in theory Martin and I'm sure it could work but, these events are a few months apart, how would you feel if you were say the the GM of say the SVR or the NVR and you have one of your loco's that you have plans for in what is a busy time of the year is holidaying out of use in another part of the country just to await a tow to an event that's 2 1/2, 3 months away? There's 3 Bank Holidays inbetween these events, then there's a question of cover too what happens if somthing on a visitors home line fails? Don't mean to sound negative but to me this sounds a little WIBN (and it pained me to type that!)

i was working that the main events would be in July / August and that visiting locos would not be moving to their locations until Late June, and that it may be easier, and possibly cheaper for a rail movement if say the engines were all at say Swanage and were going to MHR,then Bluebell.

Putting to one side the matter of 34081 being owned by the BBLS and not the NVR, it puts a real strain on our volunteer base to have her operating away for long periods of time so we wouldn't want her away from home base for weeks or months at a time.

The Swanage bash is in April and the MHR event is in July so that's around 12 weeks between the two.
