I went out for a trip today with as a family was expecting it to be busy but surprised how busy only got a seat on the 10:30 from Kidderminster as got there well before 10 am and the 1542 from bridgnorth was standing room only. I don't think the A timetable was suited to a school holiday.
The short 6 coach train not helping being at the most popular time and catching lots of people leaving the engine house.

What's the weather been like up there? If it's been nice and warm and sunny and with the clocks not going back until the weekend. Who wants to stay in if it's like that?

Some oddities. The first weekend was Table B (all steam), weekdays are A (all steam) and this coming weekend is A (one diesel) - so the Friday is all steam and the weekend part diesel.

The sets are LMS/LNER 7 coach sets all week and at the weekend, and GW(6) for the third steam service midweek.

Next year it is 'new' table A with three full trips rather than the 2.5 trips this year

A reminder that the BBC's 'Railways: The Making of a Nation' episode 'A Touch of Class' is on iPlayer only until this Saturday, December 3rd at 8:30pm. This is a 'last chance to see' (for the moment at least) filming the BBC did earlier in the year at the SVR. http://www.bbc.co.uk/…/railways-the-making-of-a-nation-a-to…

Christmas treats - The Flying Scotsman 9 pm Thursday 29/12/16 BBC Four. Sit back and enjoy a sixty minute trip from the driving seat of the Flying Scotsman, with a signal-by-signal guide to life on the footplate of the nation's favourite steam engine. In a special one-off slow tv treat for Christmas, the crew take locomotive 60103 down the Severn Valley Railway, cutting through stunning landscapes on a journey from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster, in the midlands of England. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2016/52/flying-scotsman-from-the-footplate

7714 has moved under her own steam following overhaul. The locomotive, which will soon join our operational fleet of engines, was in action at Bridgnorth Station today. No. 7714 will continue 'running in' before a full return to service very soon.

Overhauled cooler group (minus elements) were being dropped into D7029.

Is it just me or does 7714 appear to have lost it's riveted panniers? They seem to appear very smooth.

It's just you ;-) there are photos on the SVR unofficial Facebook page of the loco at Bridgnorth, and the riveted tanks are clearly visible. They're not big chunky rivets, so aren't as obvious as the cab and bunker ones.

Has anyone any thoughts about the image on svrlive of the boiler barrel for 82045? Or is it just a trick of the light? ( Looking at the area of the join, that is)

Two strakes being pulled together with some ratchet straps. Is there a problem?

Looks to me like they are being used to adjust the position of the two sections prior to drilling for rivets.
    Nothing sinister!!

I understand that locos 43106, 7812, 2857, 7802 and 34053 will be hauling Santa trains at the SVR tomorrow (Sun. 4/12) .

Would anyone know which direction the locos are facing please. Many thanks. <BJ>

We enjoyed a very nice day at the SVR today with beautiful weather.

43106 now faces Kiddy. Taw Valley replaced 2857. Other locos in service were 7802, 7812 and 34053. <BJ>
