The end of Southern steam anniversary has produced an attempt to gather the most Bulleids in one place since 1967: http://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/events

Think I'll make space in the diary for this...

Where on earth will they keep them? Swanage is not blessed with ample sidings!

I think they only need five to beat the current record of four steamable Bulleids held by the Bluebell. So space is needed for another three locomotives- possibly that vacated by 34028 and occupied by 34010's frames might assist, considering the latter should be in Herston by then?

With five Bulleids I'm hoping the coaling capacity of Swanage Coal Dock may be the only logistics 'problem' to deal with.
Looking forward to it reminding me of many family holidays in the 50s from Waterloo to Brockenhurst then changing onto the M7 push-pull rake to Ringwood. Happy days indeed

What a tremendous idea - glad it's happening on a line close enough to us that I'll be able to get there in gaps even if I have to work that weekend.

Same place they keep the 6/7 diesels that visit every May is my guess...

With 34070 & '72 available, the gala timetable worked with 5x locos ASG just gone so that's only 3x guests. The only other residents in traffic will be 31806 and 80104 that time of year too (M7 withdrawn, and N not quite ready I believe).

I would guess Sir Keith Park and Taw Valley would be a start and maybe 35006

They have a number to beat as I believe the highest would be the MHR in 2014? With 35028, 34046 & 34007 in steam plus 34105 at Ropley and 34016 & 34058 at Alresford. I believe 34051 was also still at the railway at the time totalling 7 at one railway.

In steam at one time I assume the Bluebell with four in 2007?

    Hi,
Could i suggest the following bulleids,
    34046 as 34052, 34053, 34067, 34092, 35028, 34027, 35006, plus home duo of 34070 and 34072.
With all those that brings it to 9 bulleids.

Can't see the SVR letting both It's light Pacifics going away at the same time, not unless it has sufficient power to cover for them. Maybe a return visit for 31806 as cover while they're gone?

My understanding is that some owners may have a reluctance to allow the loco to move by road

Might depend on whether Erlestoke gets the sought after ticket extension. if it does availability shouldn't be too much of an issue. We've had 3 locos out on hire at a time at points this year whilst maintaining the core service and should have the same number of locos available in April, failures and maintenance permitting, plus this event doesn't clash with the SVR ssg.

I'd wager skp is a nailed on cert given its Swanage connection.
Would love to have the U class back for a spell though! lovely bit of kit.

As far as I'm aware I think 35006, 34027, 34046 (as 34052), 34053, 34070 and 34092 are all in service (not sure what's happening with 34067) but 35018, 35028, 34072 and 34081 should also be in steam next year but not

I assume 34053 is a dead cert and perhaps 34046.

How many years in a row has that been said though, think the first we will know of it being back is if it appears on the test circuit one day,
